Ensuring the security of smart and cyber-physical systems throughout their lifecycle is a growing concern for both researchers and practitioners. In this context, the 2nd Workshop on Whole-Lifecycle Security for Smart Systems: Methods and Tools – LIFESEC 2026 will be held 22 June 2026 in Messina, Italy, as part of the 12th IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing.
LIFESEC 2026 will focus on security challenges across the entire lifecycle of smart, connected, and cyber-physical systems, from design and development to deployment, operation, and long-term maintenance. The workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners working on integrated security approaches that combine technical solutions with organisational practices and regulatory requirements.
The paper submission deadline is 9 March 2026, with notifications of acceptance scheduled for 29 April 2026. Accepted papers will be presented during the LIFESEC workshop in Messina.
LIFESEC Workshop
The first edition of LIFESEC Workshop, co-organised by the TELEMETRY and DOSS projects and held in 2025 in the context of the IEEE SmartComp conference, was successfully completed and confirmed the relevance of a dedicated forum on whole-lifecycle security for smart and cyber-physical systems.
Building on this success, a second edition of the workshop was proposed, expanding the scope of collaboration through the involvement of additional Horizon Europe projects. As a result, LIFESEC 2026 is jointly organised by the Horizon Europe projects TELEMETRY, DOSS, EMERALD, COBALT, CUSTODES, and CURIUM reflecting a strengthened and growing collaborative effort across European research initiatives in the area of whole-lifecycle security.
Further information about the workshop is available on the workshop’s dedicated page here.
